Our
class has 17 children, we all have settled into school really well and
have become good friends. We have become so confident we even put on a
show at Christmas called ‘It’s a Baby’ which we performed
for all our Mam’s, Dad’s, Nanna’s, Grandad’s and
the rest of the school. We were fantastic even though we say it ourselves. |
We
use the ‘Early Learning Goals’ to develop our skills, knowledge
and understanding of ourselves and the world around us. These goals are
split into stepping stones which we work our way across to begin the National
Curriculum in Y1.The 6 goals are:

Our classroom is arranged in a ‘High Scope’ type setting with colour-coded areas of which the contents are changed regularly to link with our current topics. At present our topic of ‘Winter’ has been linked to our ‘Language Area’ with a winter display outside with a warm, cosy interior. Our’ Role-play Area’ has been transformed into a garage and we have been given a garage to play with in our construction area. |

Our work on the ‘Sense of smell’ has been extended with an interactive ‘Smelly Box’ in our ‘Discovery Area’. |

We love using our computers and have just had them updated so we can use even more programmes. Our mouse skills are developing well and we are beginning to get to grips with the keyboard. We also enjoy using our cassette and headphones to listen to stories and music. We can play, rewind, stop, fast forward and turn over although sometimes we press the pause button by mistake. |

| We have a fantastic selection of outside toys. We use them whenever the weather allows. These toys help us develop our balance and fine and gross motor skills as well as our spatial awareness. |
