WELCOME TO YEAR THREE'S WEB PAGE!

Hello, we are Year Three at Lord Blyton Primary School.  There are 15 of us in our class, 8 girls and 7 boys.  We are all either 7 or 8 years old.  Our teacher this year is Mrs Simpson.  We hope you enjoy reading about what we have been doing so far this year and what fun things are to come!

LITERACY

In Literacy we have been following the National Literacy Strategy and we have been looking at story settings, characters, playscripts, poems, myths, fables, traditional tales, as well as a variety of non-fiction and  other fiction texts.  We have been practising our joined handwriting a lot and we have become more familiar with using a dictionary and  thesaurus.

We have a wide selection of reading books in our classroom, as well as in our new library.

We enjoy our quiet reading times.

NUMERACY

For our Numeracy lessons we have sets, which means that some of us have maths with Mrs Simpson and some with Mrs Douglas.  We are in mixed year group sets with the Year Four children.  We have been learning many new strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, as well as work on fractions, shape, space and measures, place value, right angles, symmetry and organising and interpreting numerical data in simple lists, tables and graphs, plus many other topics.  We enjoy working and mixing with the Year 4 children in our Numeracy sets.
